Support to grow as lifelong learners

At Basswood Elementary, we work with all scholars to provide appropriate academic support and rigor. From gifted education opportunities to services that support learners with special needs, our mission-driven staff helps each individual student succeed and lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Basswood scholars also benefit from an outdoor learning classroom and visits from local naturalists, as well as robotics, STEM Explorers, Google Expeditions, coding, and Breakout EDU opportunities.

Opportunities to explore

We offer a variety of activities for Basswood Bulldogs, including:

  • Band, choir and orchestra
  • Basswood Gives Back Team
  • Fuel Up to Play 60
  • Basswood Ambassadors
  • School patrols

Safe and healthy school climate

Basswood focuses on the Basswood B's, which encourage all students to:

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Safe

These schoolwide expectations are taught, modeled and practiced by all staff and students. We teach expected behaviors, provide interventions for students who are struggling, and recognize students for positive behaviors. Our students and staff take pride in being role models at school and in the community.

Three Rivers partnership

We're thankful for the support of many community partners, including Three Rivers Park District which provides environmental education to all Basswood scholars.
